Creating Jobs Dairy industry growth in the United States is good for more than just the industry itself: It means job creation and expanded opportunities for dairy farmers, their communities, the entire dairy industry, and ultimately the U.S. economy. When dairy wins we all win.
As U.S. dairies are able to offer more products and sell more of their production to families in the U.S. and abroad, more jobs can be created for this and generations to come. To do that, today's dairy manufacturers, who make finished products such as cheeses, ice creams and fluid milk products, need an abundant supply of milk. Dairy farmers need to be able to produce as much as they choose, without the government deciding for them what those amounts should be.
With growth comes opportunity:
- Hilmar Cheese Company is doubling the capacity of its plant outside Dalhart, Texas, investing more than $100 million and adding 150 jobs in the process.
- In Greeley, Colorado, Leprino Foods Company is building a $270 million cheese factory that is expected to create 500 new jobs.
- Sargento is planning to add 120 jobs to its expanding Wisconsin operation.
